I’m so excited for the month of June to roll around…its going to be a full month of weddings, including the nuptials of these two love birds! Sylviana and Vinnie are so much fun – I don’t think we stopped smiling for one second during this shoot. How cute is their pup? He was the perfect addition. I loved photographing Sylivana and Vinnie, they have such a sweet and genuine love for each other, I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in just a few weeks!
Justin & Christina // Half Moon Bay Engagement
Getting to hang out with Justin, Christina and their little pup was an ideal afternoon! We explored the forests along side the beach in Half Moon Bay — it was a stunning day. We really are spoiled here in Cali, I can’t get enough of all the gorgeous landscapes and the best part is getting to discover them from behind the lens and with people like Justin and Christina.
Aaron & Ann // San Francisco Engagement Photographer
Aaron and Ann contacted me from Canada in hopes of documenting their solo road trip to California. They both love the city and wanted to spend some time together exploring the coast of California in honor of their elopement. I absolutely loved hanging out with them for a couple days — it was so special to be part of their story and to document both their engagement and private wedding. They love each other so passionately which made their romantic elopement that much more special. Here are just a few from their engagement shoot….
Naomi & Vic // Los Altos Engagement Session
This session makes me grin from ear to ear and that’s pretty much what all three of us were doing as we explored some of the most beautiful landscapes the Bay Area has to offer. Naomi and Vic are absolutely picture perfect with the sweetest personalities too. Photographing them felt like hanging out with old friends. I can’t wait for their wedding next year! Ill let the photos tell the story…you can see more from their session on Style Me Pretty!
Jon & Forou // Bay Area Engagement Photography
I have known Jon since he was a baby, our families basically grew up together, so you can imagine the joy I felt as I was photographing him with the love of his life, Forouzan. Forou is one of the sweetest, honest, and selfless human beings you will ever meet and together, they ooze creativity and joy. Their love is straight out of a fairy tale and all of us who know them will agree…they belong in a disney movie. I knew we had to do something fun and playful for their session, so it was only fitting to dream up a shoot that reflected their love for child-like adventure! We teamed up with the ever so talented, Amanda, from One True Love Vintage to bring their adventure to life. Collaborating on inspiration boards and being wowed by Jon’s version of their engagement story…we all had the best time! I couldn’t be happier that Jon found the woman of his dreams in Forou. Love you both dearly, can’t wait for May 17.
Their engagement story, written by Jon:
“It was our 2 year anniversary of our courtship and I told her to meet me at her house at 4am! She said yes and didn’t question why 4am or where we were going. Then we drove up near napa for a balloon ride. The balloon ride got cancelled because of high winds and I was a little bummed but she was so positive and fun. So I told her I had a few things I wanted to tell her through out the day about how she makes me feel. The balloon ride was going to be “You make me feel like i’m floating on air just you and me, nearer to God.” Afterwards, I took her for a hike up to the santa cruz mountains. When we got to the top, we stopped to paint. I had brought a mysterious bag, opened it up and brought out painting supplies. I painted a picture we took on the SF bridge and she painted a photo of the surroundings. I told her “I want to go on the journey of life together. It is going to be hard but when we get to the end we can paint the view together.” After that we got lost! We tried to hike back down but we went in circles. She never complained, even though it was 6 miles and she had to hold her painting the entire time! We got back and I had prepared a picnic basket, with wine, grilled cheese, and oranges (her favorite), we also carved our names into a tree. I told her “You give me rest, when I am with you I always feel rejuvenated and peaceful.” Then I pulled out water guns and started a water fight. After I said “You aab me!” which means “You melt me” but in farsi “aab” is water. Then I took her home to change (paint and sweat, what was I thinking?!) and I changed too, and while she was changing me and her mom talked and I showed her pictures of the ring. Then I took her to our favorite pizza place which was tradition. Followed by a trip to a park by my old house to catch bugs. When we got there my friend had planted the jewelry box along the trail that I made her with our initials and a grasshopper carved on it. I used my net and “caught the box” and much to her surprise,(after her thinking it was someones random box hahah) she opened it with the key I gave her the year before on our 1 year anniversary. Inside was a bunch of cut up cards, business cards I had gotten a while back with “Jonathan Shariat, Forouzan’s Boyfriend” on them and I would use to write her notes. So I told her I didnt want to be her boyfriend anymore, grabbed the ring box hidden under them and said “I want to be your husband”, then I got on one knee and said the last part.”
Featured! Style Me Pretty California // Irene & Brian, Knights Ferry Engagement Photography
A big thank you to Style Me Pretty for featuring Irene & Brian today! I have been itching to post this and I’m so thankful that I finally get to share Irene and Brian with all of you…definitely check out the SMP feature to see the full session! I am so blessed to have clients who are just such sweet people and these two are no exception. We spent the day together exploring the rolling hills, picnicking on some delicious sandwiches prepared by Brian and dishing on some deep convo. There is something so sweet and child-like about Irene and Brian’s love and the heart theme was a perfect touch to their whimsical wedding decor. I was in awe of how much beauty was in this place. It reminded me of Switzerland…a little slice of European charm right here in Cali.
Leann & Michael // Willow Glen Engagement Photography
Just a day in the life with Leann and Michael — hanging out at home in the adorable Willow Glen neighborhood, taking a walk to downtown where they had their first date and many after, playing a little basketball which they both love and riding bikes through their favorite neighborhoods, spotting their ideal home — such a fun day! These two were made for each other — the sweetest love you’ll ever see.
Lauren & Patrick // San Francisco Engagement Photography
Oh Lauren and Patrick, where do I begin with this stunning pair? Lauren emailed me months ago about doing a San Francisco engagement session during her trip to SF with Patrick this summer since SF plays a special place in their love story, it was only fitting for this east coast couple to shoot their engagement session here. One of their first trips together was to SF many years ago and we knew we want to capture the city and some of the best views the bay has to offer. Although we had never met in person, as soon as I arrived and saw Lauren sitting there in her stunning sequins dress and Patrick in his adorable purple bow tie — I thought…YES! It could not have been more perfect for our shoot. Bow ties, glitter, champagne, early morning SF fog, hydrangeas and a super in love duo — what more could I ask for?! I am so happy to have spent time with them while they were here, cheers to their upcoming wedding in DC!
Ryan & Brea // Cupertino Wedding Photographer
I remember seeing a girl at Mandela and Tim’s wedding last summer and thinking to myself, “I’d love to photograph her, she’s adorable!” Of course, time went on, and months passed and it was around Christmas when I got a call from Ryan asking me if I’d help him surprise his very new fiancé Brea by booking an engagement session as a gift for her. As we chatted, I very quickly realized Brea was the girl from the wedding (which made me super happy) and I was convinced that Ryan was officially the sweetest fiancé for planning this all for the both of them. Brea and Ryan live in Los Angeles, where Ryan works as an animator and Brea is a nanny which really reflects how friendly and fun loving these two are. Exploring the rolling hills on a warm summer morning with these two was a dream, I loved every second of it!
