cheers to 3 years of marriage…what’s not to celebrate?!

I don’t know what could have been a more perfect surprise but in honor of my 28th birthday and our 3 year anniversary, Arash and I swept away to Mexico for little celebratory vacation. I’ve always been one to figure out a surprise but Arash has been the first person to stump me time and time again…and this time was no different. He used clever & very tricky poems which he wrote to lead me to clues that spelled out the message: “we are flying to cancun”!! Are you joking?? Yessssss! What’s summer without working on the tan and doing a little swimming?? Endless guacamole, super hot sun, some polaroid action, pampering…we had the best time! I can’t believe its been 3 years since our 8.8.08 wedding–time flies like mad crazy fast. Over the last 3 years we’ve gone through a lot of change, grown so much as husband and wife, laughed a ton, been challenged when life goes its own route, been inspired by creative endeavors, and I can only look forward with excitement for all the new adventure to come in the future! I have been blessed so much by the man by my side…he’s an amazing example, a supportive best friend and loving husband. I could not ask for a better partner to walk out this journey with me.

Happy Father’s Day to my “baba”

undefinedThis photo captures so much and means the world to me. My dad has been my rock and the best source of support, unconditional love and true leadership. He’s taught me how to lead, how to be a woman of character and integrity and continues to challenge me and support me in every creative endeavor I choose to jump into. I admire him so much not only as a father but as a man who has shown me what true success and Love is. He’s man who loves and serves God with all of his heart and soul- a true example of a husband, father and leader to so many. I am honored and so so blessed to be his daughter. Happy Father’s day baba…if I don’t tell you enough, I love you!

Happy Friday!

undefinedFridays always brings a smile on my face. Everything seems to be more special on Fridays. Maybe because as a child I always looked forward to TGIF on friday nights (step by step…anyone??) and now, it marks the beginning of a weekend that, for me, is filled with photographing some amazing projects and even more amazing people. I feel so blessed to do what I get to do! So before I head into what marks the start of a very busy week ahead…here are a few fun frames from our recent trip out to LA…you can’t go to LA without having a *little* fun, right?! undefinedundefined

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

FUNDRAISING
For Japan With Love has a direct link on the website to their fundraising page for ShelterBox. ShelterBox was one of THE first organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand on the Saturday after the quake. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items. Please check it out and whatever you can contribute will be so appreciated.

BLOGGERS DAY OF SILENCE
Anyone that has a blog can help out with this one.The aim is just raise awareness and respect and acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.

The guidelines are simple:
1. This coming Friday, March 18th, no posts at all on your blog.
2. Blog about this beforehand.
3. Tweet and Re-Tweet this link: http://www.forjapanwithlove.com
4. Encourage your readers to contribute to donate shelter to Japan. Whatever anyone can contribute will be appreciated. Every little helps.

IDENTITY DESIGN PROCESS | ALIX B JEWELRY

I had the pleasure of working with Alix Bogehold of Alix B Jewelry on the branding of her new jewelry line. I am so excited and looking forward to the launch of their site and online store! If you’re in your 20’s-30’s and interested in some quality jewelry, keep a look out for this line. They plan on launching their website soon and will also offer their pieces in boutiques throughout the US. I think every girl needs to collect some key pieces that can always be mixed in with the rest of the accessories collected along the way. Its good to have those valuable, quality pieces that can spice up a plain outfit or be used to create a more dramatic look. Personally, I don’t shy away from wearing alot of jewelry and at 28, I love collecting pieces I know will last me forever. I love finding really unique pieces that I know I can’t find at just any store.
STEP ONE: INSPIRATION
I asked Alix to send me some images and things that inspire her in order for me to develop an Inspiration Brainstorm board. In order to complete the look, I mixed in pieces she sent me along with some things that I pulled for her after studying her style to complete the look. Here’s how Alix described her inspiration: “As far as style I am a mix. I always love the antiqued, worn look, but I also am drawn towards more modern style as well. As an example I love stores like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters, but I also love the more modern styles of Nordstrom. I am very into colors, texture and pattern. Some of my favorite colors are lighter blues, cranberry, lime to olive greens, muted yellows and chocolate browns. I have always liked the colors and patterns used in textiles of Jonathan Adler. I studied abroad in Senegal and always loved the look of the Baobab Tree. I will be using silver, yellow and pink gold in my designs. I also like colors, so I will use stones such as blue topaz, peridot, garnets, pearls, small diamonds. Organic. Colorful. Simple.”STEP TWO: LOGO DEVELOPMENT
As always, I studied the brand style, inspiration, target audience and overall look and feel and began to create. I came up with a color palette options first because I find that color speaks so loudly to the overall feeling of the logo. From there, I began the logo process. Below are some options that I created and in the first round we edited, added, eliminated and came up with the perfect fit that Alix fell in love with.STEP THREE: CUSTOM TEXTURES & BUSINESS CARDS
Once we were set on the logo, I began to create textures completely custom for Alix B. Blues, greens, plums…I pulled these colors in to create different patterns that I felt met the look and feel of the brand vision. Applying these patterns onto marketing materials is like giving birth to the overall brand design, it brings me such satisfaction to see it come to life. I then, designed her some custom business cards which featured each pattern and final logo on the back.

Celebrating life & new beginnings

Yesterday we said hello to a new year and goodbye to a woman with a huge heart who throughout her 90 years had seen decades pass, eras change, and cultures transition from her home in the middle east to the far west across the globe. She watched her children grow, grandchildren be born, marriages come together and all in all, lived one of the fullest lives I have seen. To my grandma, “Moman Mary”…you will be missed <3 may we celebrate your life today and be reminded every new year to celebrate the life we have been given!!

Love, delbarr.

Meet Mason.

He’s the newest addition to the family and a huge surprise to me! Arash came home with a basket in his hand, “Merry Christmas” and as he turned the basket to face me, there he was…the cutest little Maltipoo I could ever have dreamed of!! We had talked about getting a puppy but we never really agreed on the timing. So I thought I had to do some convincing and as months went by, I gave up on it and figured we’d get one…someday. Little did I know, Arash had contacted a breeder months ago, picked out the little guy as soon as he was born and sure enough two months later, he flew in from Chicago to his new home in Mountain View California. Already, he has stolen our hearts! He’s the sweetest, quietest little puppy ever. He loves to cuddle with Arash and its the cutest thing to see. He follows me around everywhere and hops around the grass outside. Its the funny to watch him try and climb up the stairs, since he can’t even reach the first step! He’s unreal. I keep looking at him and thinking he’s a stuffed animal and he’s all mine! I now have a little guy to keep me company when I’m editing and designing during the day. LOVE!

Merry Christmas to you, with LOVE.

May you have a wonderful Christmas with family and friends! Enjoy your holiday and soak in all the rest you can get…may your Christmas be full of joy and may the new year bring many many blessings. This year has been amazing and I’m so blessed to be living this life. 2010 brought us many changes and many blessings: Arash got a new job, we said goodbye to the San Francisco commute, I finally launched my own photography & design business, we traveled, I was able to learn from amazing mentors in the business, I fell in love with shooting weddings, our dearest friends got married, we entered our second year of marriage, we learned more about our callings and our purpose, we laughed uncontrollably, we had dance parties…sometimes by ourselves, took a road trip to LA, creativity was unleashed…we’re looking forward to what 2011 will bring! A big thank YOU to everyone who has supported me in this last year with the launch of my business, here’s to another great year! May you and your family be blessed in the New Year.
