HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

FUNDRAISING
For Japan With Love has a direct link on the website to their fundraising page for ShelterBox. ShelterBox was one of THE first organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand on the Saturday after the quake. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items. Please check it out and whatever you can contribute will be so appreciated.

BLOGGERS DAY OF SILENCE
Anyone that has a blog can help out with this one.The aim is just raise awareness and respect and acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.

The guidelines are simple:
1. This coming Friday, March 18th, no posts at all on your blog.
2. Blog about this beforehand.
3. Tweet and Re-Tweet this link: http://www.forjapanwithlove.com
4. Encourage your readers to contribute to donate shelter to Japan. Whatever anyone can contribute will be appreciated. Every little helps.

Last week marked my first wedding of 2011 and it was quite an adventure. Kelly and Jamie are a super sweet couple and since they are from out of town, we shot their engagement shoot, civil ceremony and wedding reception all within a week! I thought I’d share a couple teasers, for now. enjoy!

Inspired by // Wedding Fashion

Fashion week. Spring season. The launch of the new BHLDN line. With wedding season right around the corner, I thought I’d share some inspiration for this year’s wedding fashion. Sometimes I wish I could play dress up and get to pull from all the pretty wedding dresses, accessories and shoes that are gracing the runways. Even though I don’t get to have another wedding of my own to design and accessorize but I can design some inspiration boards to feed my creative craving! Can’t wait for this season to begin…enjoy!  (Images from BHLDN and JCREW; edited to my imagination)

IDENTITY DESIGN PROCESS | ALIX B JEWELRY

I had the pleasure of working with Alix Bogehold of Alix B Jewelry on the branding of her new jewelry line. I am so excited and looking forward to the launch of their site and online store! If you’re in your 20’s-30’s and interested in some quality jewelry, keep a look out for this line. They plan on launching their website soon and will also offer their pieces in boutiques throughout the US. I think every girl needs to collect some key pieces that can always be mixed in with the rest of the accessories collected along the way. Its good to have those valuable, quality pieces that can spice up a plain outfit or be used to create a more dramatic look. Personally, I don’t shy away from wearing alot of jewelry and at 28, I love collecting pieces I know will last me forever. I love finding really unique pieces that I know I can’t find at just any store.
STEP ONE: INSPIRATION
I asked Alix to send me some images and things that inspire her in order for me to develop an Inspiration Brainstorm board. In order to complete the look, I mixed in pieces she sent me along with some things that I pulled for her after studying her style to complete the look. Here’s how Alix described her inspiration: “As far as style I am a mix. I always love the antiqued, worn look, but I also am drawn towards more modern style as well. As an example I love stores like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters, but I also love the more modern styles of Nordstrom. I am very into colors, texture and pattern. Some of my favorite colors are lighter blues, cranberry, lime to olive greens, muted yellows and chocolate browns. I have always liked the colors and patterns used in textiles of Jonathan Adler. I studied abroad in Senegal and always loved the look of the Baobab Tree. I will be using silver, yellow and pink gold in my designs. I also like colors, so I will use stones such as blue topaz, peridot, garnets, pearls, small diamonds. Organic. Colorful. Simple.”STEP TWO: LOGO DEVELOPMENT
As always, I studied the brand style, inspiration, target audience and overall look and feel and began to create. I came up with a color palette options first because I find that color speaks so loudly to the overall feeling of the logo. From there, I began the logo process. Below are some options that I created and in the first round we edited, added, eliminated and came up with the perfect fit that Alix fell in love with.STEP THREE: CUSTOM TEXTURES & BUSINESS CARDS
Once we were set on the logo, I began to create textures completely custom for Alix B. Blues, greens, plums…I pulled these colors in to create different patterns that I felt met the look and feel of the brand vision. Applying these patterns onto marketing materials is like giving birth to the overall brand design, it brings me such satisfaction to see it come to life. I then, designed her some custom business cards which featured each pattern and final logo on the back.

Bay area wedding photographer, Mountain View | Irene & David

I’ve never seen a couple more in love than these two. The moment I met Irene and David I could see it in the way David looked at her and the way Irene would glance back at him. They have a sweet sweet love for each other and this wedding was such a celebration of that. Their family and friends were so warm and welcoming, there were times where Arash and I had to take step back and remind ourselves that we’re working…they treated us like family too! From the set up, decor, catering, and music their friends and family went the extra mile to be a part of it all. The Rengstorff House is truly a hidden treasure, tucked away in the brushes of Shoreline Park. Its such a great place to get married and explore! There were so many great spots to shoot and so many great details in the house itself. The adorable bird cake toppers were probably my favorite thing ever and the lanterns and autumn flowers against the backdrop of the house made for a perfect backyard wedding. If you want to see more from their wedding, be sure to watch their slideshow!

bay area wedding photographer, walnut creek | JT & Ann Marie

JT & Ann Marie’s wedding had unique touches sprinkled throughout the day. From a twitter #hashtag to track all the wedding festivities to an entourage of classic cars and JT’s magenta kicks, it was one of my favorite weddings to be a part of, for sure. Everywhere we traveled, the caravan of classic cars were to sure to turn heads and create a warm welcome at every stop. I had the honor of meeting and assisting San Diego photographer, Chaz Cruz who is super cool and super talented. We had such a fun time hanging out with JT, Ann Marie and their bridal party and family. With everyone I interacted, I could feel the love for these two; there was such a strong bond between everyone. It was beyond evident, too, to see how much JT loves Ann Marie. At every mention of her name before the wedding, he would get this look on his face as his eyes would swell with tears. It was her card to him that really set him over the edge and I think I had to hold back tears myself as he read her note to him before they walked down the aisle. Ann Marie has one of the most contagious and electric smiles you have ever seen, she has such a sweet spirit and is truly a classic beauty inside and out. It is obvious why these two have fallen truly madly deeply.

Celebrating life & new beginnings

Yesterday we said hello to a new year and goodbye to a woman with a huge heart who throughout her 90 years had seen decades pass, eras change, and cultures transition from her home in the middle east to the far west across the globe. She watched her children grow, grandchildren be born, marriages come together and all in all, lived one of the fullest lives I have seen. To my grandma, “Moman Mary”…you will be missed <3 may we celebrate your life today and be reminded every new year to celebrate the life we have been given!!

Love, delbarr.
