Inspired By // Minimal Movie Posters

I recently stumbled across these graphic intensive movie/tv posters and I couldn’t help but share some that I really loved. I just love the typography, graphics, textures and overall layout in all of these. Such winners! How many of you have seen Breaking Bad?! Umm yeah, the final season starts back up in July…we can’t wait! Enjoy…

inspired by // Target Color!

Saw this Target commercial last night that beautifully illustrates what I feel inside. Time to bust out the color and enjoy the changing of the season!

If you know me, you know there is this hunger inside me to be a part of great change. To see something change and impact the world for the greater good. My heart beats for it and as a photographer, I love documenting it, telling the story. I’ve traveled to Haiti and spoke to hundreds of Haitians, joined in the global fight to stop sex trafficking all over the world and walked the streets of Cairo, in hopes of making some sort of difference through prayer and simple, real relationships. Nothing makes me feel more alive or passionate than seeing people, artists, storytellers, voices, come together and spark an incredible movement, drawing attention to something we can so easily ignore. We work, we go to school, we travel, we live comfortable lives here in the US and I know that God has blessed me and continues to provide SUCH amazing experiences and opportunities for a purpose. For a greater impact. My art, my talent, my passions can also be used for causes like this. After watching this video, I couldn’t ignore this call. How can you? The child soldiers in Africa have been on my radar for years thanks to Invisible Children and this year they are determined to go even more viral with their message, their challenge. I hope you watch this and I hope you get involved…it could be a simple signature, wearing the bracelet or simply just sharing this video on Facebook. Its not everyday that something this big comes along and I’m excited to be part of this change. Check out KONY2012 for all the info you need to get involved and spread the word.

inspired by // Arian Behzadi

Totally inspired by Arian Behzadi. A bio major at UC Davis with an obvious talent for visual design work, he creates these rad pieces in between his classes. Textures, photography, splashes of color, type…what more could I ask for? I love these. To see even more of his work be sure to check out his flickr portfolio.

inspired by // The Civil Wars

I’m a firm believer in following your heart and becoming who you were always meant to be…coming alive in your passions sparks such rich inspiration. Watch this video of my friend Joy from The Civil Wars — their journey has been an inspiration to me. Shot by Allister Ann.

watching inspiration turn into reality…

My mom always told me that if I had my mind set on something, I’d get there and nothing could stop me–sometimes that works against me (umm…diet?!) but most of the time, its a great thing. I guess that means there’s a bit of determination in me…and a whole lot of grace given to me, that I don’t deserve. I got into the creative industry years ago, inspired by photography, fashion, print editorials, fabric patterns, and illustration. Some day, soon I hope, I will have a giant studio space where I can fill the white walls in magazine tears, fabric swatches and tons and tons of art and photos. An ideal spot for client meetings, in my opinion! Being able to photograph gorgeous weddings and meet amazing people is a dream come true. Coming from a design background, I’ve had some really cool opportunities to design and photograph in creative environments that I wouldn’t trade for anything. The creative world is where I belong-I find my voice in photographs and being able to tell a story.

I’ll let you in on a little secret…I heart Jenna Lyons. I’m pretty much obsessed inspired with her office, closet and the fact that she’s the Creative mastermind behind Jcrew. All those drool-worthy catalog spreads? Yeah. She gets to art direct them. Look at her office?! Someday I will add Creative Director to the titles of Photographer and Designer. Just putting it out there now. And in the meantime, back to work I go…loving the journey so far!

Happy weekend everyone! Photos of Jenna by Myra Iqbal

Inspired by // a little fashion, a little gaga

One of my favorite things to do when I finally get a chance to unwind is watch music videos or movie trailers on my phone. Maybe its weird, I don’t know…but its just something I’ve done over the years. I find them inspiring. Some catch my eye, inspire my design aesthetic, challenge me to look at things in a new way. The new Lady Gaga video is one that really fed my creative appetite. I’m not a huge fan of hers, but I do appreciate art and things that tend to lean more on the outrageous side– and she’s one to push the envelope when it comes to productions like this. The textures, wardrobe, colors and photography in this video are really well done. Hats off to you, gaga.

Inspired by // Wedding Fashion

Fashion week. Spring season. The launch of the new BHLDN line. With wedding season right around the corner, I thought I’d share some inspiration for this year’s wedding fashion. Sometimes I wish I could play dress up and get to pull from all the pretty wedding dresses, accessories and shoes that are gracing the runways. Even though I don’t get to have another wedding of my own to design and accessorize but I can design some inspiration boards to feed my creative craving! Can’t wait for this season to begin…enjoy!  (Images from BHLDN and JCREW; edited to my imagination)
